Al Shawarbeh inaugurates first centre of its kind at a cost of 2.5 million JD’S to serve 500 Public Transport Buses

Through the joint venture between both companies (CMTC&GURSEL)

Dr.Yousef Al Shawarbeh ,The head of GAM committee , Inaugurates first services centre of its kind on Wednesday morning at Marka on an area of 50 acres for serving nearly 500 bus from public transport buses which established the joint venture between Comprehensive Multiple Transportation Company & Turkish Jordanian (Gursel) Company for Managing & Operating Public Transportation Company .

 

During the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by the chairman of the board of directors Saoud Nusairat, General Manager of CMTC Dr.Moayad Abu Fardeh, Dr. Al-Shawarbeh was briefed on the Centre’s services, which include, in its first phase, bus parking lots, automatic washing stations, environmentally friendly water recycling systems, reduced water consumption, a burning bottling plant, administrative service buildings, driver’s rest rooms and training.

The Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, Turker Karhassan, said that this project came in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein regarding the sustainability of the development of the public transport sector system, as the Joint venture aspires to operate Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), especially since the joint venture has the ability to operate major projects such as this project.

He said that this Joint venture is currently operating “Amman Bus” with 135 buses operating on 27 routes, in addition to the trial operation of the bus rapid transit (BRT)with 28 buses from Sweileh area to the downtown area “Museum”

In the same context, Karhassan revealed the start of the second phase of the center at the beginning of 2022, in order to build a maintenance center with an area of ​​4,000 square meters, in order to carry out all the maintenance work required by the buses, after the end of its warranty with the agent of these buses.

He pointed out that the location of the center had been chosen because of its proximity to the main station stop, which was the bus hub, as well as its proximity to most public transport routes.

Karhassan  also added that the Joint venture, in its three years, employed nearly 400 Jordanian male and female in a variety of services, including administrative and operational .

It is noteworthy that this project comes within the contractual terms between the Jordanian-Turkish company and the Amman Modern Vision Company, owned by GAM, in order to support efforts in developing complementary logistics services for the transport sector.
